DANIEL’S 70 WEEKS PROPHECY
"24Seventy weeks
(or 70 sevens, in this context, it means
70 times 7 years, with a year of 360 days) have been
decreed for your people (the
Jewish people) and your holy city (the
city of Jerusalem), to finish the transgression, to make
an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting
righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint
the most holy place (the 6 purposes to be
fulfilled within the 70 Weeks, after which the whole Israel
will be saved. More to follow). 25So you are to know
and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore
and rebuild Jerusalem (fulfilled
in 444 BC by King Artaxerxes, cf. Nehemiah 2:1-8) until
Messiah the Prince (the
triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem in AD 33, cf.
Luke 19:29-44) there will be seven weeks
(that is, 49 years) and sixty-two
weeks (that is, 434 years);
it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of
distress. 26Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah
will be cut off (Jesus Christ was
crucified just 4 days later) and have nothing and the
people of the prince who is to come (that
is, General Titus and the Roman Empire army) will
destroy the city and the sanctuary (In
the war against the Jews in AD 70, the Roman army besieged and
destroyed Jerusalem, burned the temple, and killed more than
one million people). And its end will come with a flood;
even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.”
(Daniel 9:24-26, emphasis and notes added)
THE 70TH WEEK OF DANIEL
"27And (since
the events prophesied in the 70th Week have not been fulfilled
yet, there is a long gap between verse 26 and 27. The 70th Week
is still to come) he (the
prince of the restored Roman Empire, who is called Antichrist
in the end times, also called the beast that comes out of the
sea in Revelation 13, the man of lawlessness and son of destruction
in 2 Thessalonians 2:3) will make a firm covenant
(that is, a covenant with death, see Isaiah
28:15) with the many for one week (that
is, 7 years, or 2520 days), but in the middle
of the week (that is, after 3 and
half years, or 1260 days) he will put a stop to sacrifice
and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come
one who makes desolate (that
is, the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION referred by Jesus in Matthew
24:15), even until a complete destruction,
one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes
desolate (that is, the final destruction
of Antichrist in the battle of Armageddon, cf. Revelation 19:20)."
(Daniel 9:27, emphasis and notes added)
THE 70TH WEEK OF DANIEL PLUS 75 DAYS
"11From the time that the regular
sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is
set up, there will be 1,290 days (that
is, there will be 1260 days plus 30 days from the revelation
of Antichrist at the midpoint of the 70th Week until the total
destruction of Antichrist in the battle of Armageddon).
12How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1,335
days (that is, there will be another
45 days until the Millennium Kingdom of Christ is established
on earth)!” (Daniel 12:11-12,
emphasis and notes added)
THE WHOLE ISRAEL SAVED AFTER THE 70TH WEEK OF
DANIEL
"Seventy weeks have
been decreed for your people and your holy city, to
finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement
for iniquity, (the first three
purposes find their fulfillment during the passing of the 490
years, at the end of which, Israel will finally receive total
forgiveness and cleansing from her past rebellion against God
and all other sins, cf. Ezekiel 37:21-23, Jeremiah 31:34)
to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision
and prophecy and to anoint the most holy (place)
(the latter three purposes find their fulfillment
after the passing of the 490 years, when the whole Israel will
receive everlasting righteousness through their faith in Christ
Jesus, cf. Romans 3:22, 2 Corinthians 5:21, find no need for
a prophet because the Lord Jesus will be personally present
and attend their needs, cf. Isaiah 60, Revelation 21:3, 22-23,
and exalt Lord Jesus as their anointed King of Israel, cf. Zephaniah
3:14-15, John 12:13).” (Daniel 9:24,
emphasis and notes added)
SUPPORTING SCRIPTURES:
“And they will fall by the edge
of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations;
and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until
the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled (‘the
times of the Gentiles’ is a specific time-period of Gentiles’
dominion over both the nation of Israel and city of Jerusalem.
The fulfilment of the times of the Gentiles is the end of the
70th Week of Daniel, as indicated clearly in Revelation 11:2).”
(Luke 21:24, emphasis and notes added)
“25For I do not want you, brethren,
to be uninformed of this mystery (that
is, the mystery of Israel’s partial hardening),
lest you be wise in your own estimation, that a partial
hardening (that is, a part of Israel’s
unwillingness to accept Christ Jesus as their Messiah and Lord)
has happened to Israel until (until
to the time in which) the fullness of the Gentiles
has come in (that is, the full
number of elect Gentiles is achieved, in other words, the salvation
of all chosen Gentiles is completed); 26and thus all
Israel will be saved (that is,
every single Jew that survives the persecution by Satan/Antichrist
and God’s refining wrath will get saved, cf. Zechariah
13:8-9, Isaiah 66:20. The timing of the salvation of Israel
thus must be after the 70th Week of Daniel ends [which is after
the sixth trumpet], when ‘the mystery of God is finished’
[Revelation 10:7], and before the seventh trumpet, when God
takes back the rule of earth and begins His final wrath [Revelation
11:15], see below for more details); just as it is written,
‘The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove
ungodliness from Jacob.’ 27 ‘And this is
My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.’”
(Romans 11:25-27, emphasis, Italics and notes
added)
GOD TAKES BACK HIS RULE OF EARTH AFTER
THE 70TH WEEK OF DANIEL
“5Then (the
timing of this passage is after the sixth trumpet is sounded)
the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted
up his right hand to heaven, 6and swore by Him who lives forever
and ever, who created heaven and the things in it, and the earth
and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that
there will be delay no longer (this
is the response to the beseech by the martyrs’ souls at
the fifth seal, see Revelation 6:9-11. Now God is going to pour
out His final wrath on Antichrist’s kingdom and earth-dwellers
and avenge the blood of the martyrs), 7but in
the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he
is about to sound (that is, before
he sounds the seventh trumpet), then the mystery
of God (that is, God’s special
work in Christ to bring Gentiles to glory, cf. Colossians 1:27,
2:2. Notice this mystery of God is different than but closely
tied to the mystery of Israel’s partial hardening spoken
by Paul in Romans 11:25, but God is working with both of them
at the same time) is finished (that
is, ‘the fullness of the Gentiles has come in’ stated
by Paul in Romans 11:25, and ‘the times of the Gentiles
are fulfilled’ spoken by Jesus in Luke 21:24. Therefore,
the sixth trumpet actually ends the 70th Week of Daniel, after
which, the whole family Israel will be saved), as He
preached to His servants the prophets.” (Revelation
10:5-7, emphasis and notes added)
“15Then (that
is, after the sixth trumpet ends, after the 70th Week of Daniel
ends, into the 75-day extended period, see Daniel 12:11-12 above)
the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven,
saying, ‘The kingdom of the world (which
according to John 12:31 and 2 Corinthians 4:4 belongs to Satan,
the god and ruler of this world) has become
(the ingressive use of the aorist of this
verb emphasizes on the entrance into a new state, rather than
a preview of what is to come or an event that has occurred in
the past. It is better translated as ‘has begun to become’)
the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ (that
is, God reclaims His rightful rule of earth from Satan to Himself,
which, as indicated here, happens immediately following the
conclusion of the 70th Week of Daniel); and He will reign
forever and ever.’ 16And the twenty-four elders, who sit
on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped
God, 17saying, ‘We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty,
who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power
and have begun to reign (this
another ingressive use of the verb confirms the notion that
the physical reign of God on earth has just transpired).
“18And the nations were
enraged (the hostile response of
the nations toward God’s reign on earth is prophesied
and vividly depicted in Psalm 2:1-3), and Your
wrath came (the six trumpet judgments
already passed but the seventh trumpet initiates the seven bowl
judgments, which are final wrath of God and still to come, cf.
Revelation 15:1), and the time came for the dead
to be judged (that is, the righteous
dead to be judged. The wicked dead will not be judged until
the end of the millennial reign of Christ, cf. Revelation 20:11-15),
and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets
and the saints (that is, two groups
of believers: prophets and saints are to be rewarded after being
judged by God) and (the following
is a further definition of the prophets and saints) those
who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy
those who destroy the earth.’” (Revelation
11:15-18, emphasis and notes added)
THE BEGINNING OF BIRTH PANGS – THE FIRST
HALF OF THE 70TH WEEK OF DANIEL
“3As He was sitting on the
Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,
‘Tell us, when will these things happen
(‘these things’ refer
to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple prophesied by
Jesus in verses 1 to 2), and
what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end
of the age? (the disciples
seemed to connect the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple
with Christ’s Second Coming and the end of the age. Besides
the timing question WHEN, they wanted to know HOW these things
will come to pass)’
4And Jesus answered (notice that
Jesus skipped the first question WHEN but gave a detailed picture
of the second question HOW)
and said to them, ‘See to it that no one misleads you.
5For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ'
(that is, the false christs,
typified by the rider on the white horse, as the 1st Seal broken
by Christ in Revelation 6:2)
and will mislead many. 6You will be hearing of wars
and rumors of wars (the
2nd Seal broken in Revelation 6:3-4).
See that you are not frightened, for those things must take
place, but that is not yet the end. 7For nation will rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there
will be famines and earthquakes (the
3rd Seal broken in Revelation 6:5-6. Although earthquakes are
not mentioned in the 3rd Seal, they are most likely the causes
for great famines around the world).
8But all these things are merely the beginning of birth
pangs (which means, the
hard labour – the persecution of the saints, and the delivery
– the deliverance of the saints, are still to come, yet
in a short time manner).”
(Matthew 24:3-8, emphasis and notes added)
